Korean-Style Popcorn Tofu

This Korean-style popcorn tofu is one of those recipes that feels indulgent but secretly works very hard for you. Crispy tofu, a sticky gochujang glaze and a high-protein, high-fibre grain base make it the kind of meal that satisfies cravings while still fuelling training, busy days and real life. It’s bold, comforting and weeknight-friendly, exactly the kind of plant-powered dinner I keep coming back to.

Step 1

Tear the pressed tofu into bite-sized pieces, or cut into cubes if you prefer a neater shape, and place in a bowl. Season with the reduced-salt soy sauce and a generous crack of black pepper. Sprinkle over the cornflour and toss until all the tofu is evenly coated.

We keep coming back to this recipe again and again! The sauce is so tangy and perfectly spicy. We pair it with whatever grain and veggie we have on hand. Couldn’t be easier. Thank you, Gigi!

Love this, another regular I think. 1 tbs of Gochujang just right. Might reduce cooking time of tofu next time as was a bit too crisp

Prepared for today and tomorrow at work! Delicious and super easy and simple to make, I just used some white sushi rice and green beans that I had leftover from yesterday and it fit the recipe perfectly

Easy to prepare and delicious. So adjustable. I pan fried the broccoli with a little olive oil and then threw in some salt, pepper, and a pat of butter at the end. Served it with quinoa that I already had in my freezer. Did the boil method for my torn tofu before adding the coating and air frying. I did reduce the gochujang because I didn’t want my mouth to burn. But great flavor! Very good staple! I'll be making this again. Partner liked it too!
